Troubleshooting
Start with the smallest example that shows the problem. Keep the original file and note what you expected to happen.
Check the starting point
Section titled “Check the starting point”| Symptom | First things to check |
|---|---|
| A file is not accepted | Actual format, the tool’s current requirements, and whether the file opens in its source application |
| Material looks different | Starting view, orientation, scale, lighting, and the exact source version |
| Something is missing | Capture coverage, dependent files, and whether you selected the intended result |
| A shared link cannot be opened | The exact destination and the access conditions shown by the sharing tool |
Isolate the change
Section titled “Isolate the change”If something previously worked, identify what changed between the working and failing versions. Try one change at a time and keep the result of each attempt.
Do not repeatedly convert or compress the only source file. Work from a copy so that you can rule out damage introduced during troubleshooting.
Record useful details
Section titled “Record useful details”When asking for help, include:
- What you were trying to do.
- The tool or page where it happened.
- The browser and operating system.
- The source format and the steps needed to reproduce the issue.
- The exact error message, if one appeared.
- A screenshot or a small example that you are allowed to share.
Remove private material, access tokens, passwords, and unrelated account information before sharing a screenshot or file.
